This section
introduces how to install, update, upgrade or uninstall the VSuite
Ramdisk program.
Install the VSuite Ramdisk (New
Installation)
It is easy to do a new
installation of the VSuite Ramdisk program. Double click on the setup
executable file to start the installation and follow the
instructions on the installation wizard.
During the
installation, some dialogs like below may pop up on Windows Vista or
later.
Click
"Install" button to install the drivers, otherwise the VSuite Ramdisk
won't work.
When successfully installed,
the below page shows. Click the "Finish" button to exit the
installation wizard. Now you can use the VSuite Ramdisk.
Update
the VSuite Ramdisk (Update to a new version with same edition)
If you have installed
an old
version of the VSuite Ramdisk and want to update it to a newer version,
you don't need to uninstall the old version. Just double click the
setup
executable file to start the update.
If the following
message shows,
click the "Yes" button to continue the update. Then follow the
instructions on the installation wizard. (refer to New Installation)
When successfully
updated, the
below page shows. Select
"Yes, restart the computer now" and click the "Finish" button to
restart the computer. Please note you must restart the computer to make
the new program effective.
Tip:
If you need to register the VSuite Ramdisk at the same time, you can
select "No. I will restart the computer later" and click the the
"Finish" to exit the wizard. Then enter the registration infomation via
main application UI (Refer to How
to Register). After that you can restart the computer to make
the new program effective.
Upgrade the VSuite Ramdisk (Upgrade
to an advanced edition)
If you have installed the VSuite Ramdisk and want to
upgrade it to an advanced edition, for eg, from Standard Edition to
Professional Edition, then you can do it using two methods. a) Upgrade from the previous edition directly. The process is same as updating to a new version. Please refer to Update the VSuite Ramdisk. or b) You can uninstall the previous edition at first, and then do a clean installation. Please refer to Uninstall the VSuite Ramdisk and New Installation.
Uninstall the VSuite Ramdisk
To
uninstall the program, you need to remove all the created ramdisks at
first. This requirement is to make sure the program is completely
uninstalled and there is no information left over in the system. Refer
to Remove a Ramdisk for more
details. You also need to restore all the settings which are redirected
to the ramdisks, for eg. IE temparay folder, TEMP Environment Variable,
paging files. Then
go to the Windows Control Panel, and click "Add or Remove Programs"
("Uninstall a program" on Vista or later). Select the VSuite Ramdisk
program and then click "Uninstall". You need to restart the computer to
finish the uninstallation. Please
note that when uninstalling the VSuite Ramdisk the ramdisk
configurations and registration information will be cleared. So if you
want to keep the ramdisk configurations, you have to export the
configurations before uninstallation. Refer to Export and Import Ramdisk Configuration for more details.
