Can't extend volume filesystem with Primocache active
This may be a known situation for Primocache, but I wanted to post it here regardless. In a recent attempt to extend the C: volume on a SSD with a second small volume, I noticed that the drive size reported in Explorer after extending C: was incorrect. I attempted to use DISKPART to extend the files...

Re: Install conflict with Samsung Magician
I never have Samsung Magician start with Windows, and always force an exit on it when done using it. There's no practical reason to have it running, especially since you can't use Rapid mode with Primocache.

Re: PrimoCache & Nvme in 2018, enough to compete with optane 905P?
That depends on your usage, though it sounds like you do a lot of similar things on your gaming workstation. For deferred writes, I use Intelligent mode, with a latency of no less than 60 seconds (it helps with temp tasks and letting Primocache count many of them as Trimmed Blocks so you don't get u...

Re: Install conflict with Samsung Magician
Well hmm. I always defer updates on Windows based systems, since I've had issues with their day-1 roll-outs in the past (one client had ~40 PCs with black screens at boot a number of years ago). I'm still on 1803 myself, so can't verify if 1809 causes Primocache problems. It may very well cause Magi...

Re: Install conflict with Samsung Magician
Disable Samsung's RAPID Mode, if you have it enabled. It will conflict with Primocache.

Re: Performance problems in L1 - CrystalDisk behavior
I don't think kernel-level processes can run as user. Primocache is a kernel process, so would run as Administrator.

Re: PrimoCache & Nvme in 2018, enough to compete with optane 905P?
Keep format clusters and Primocache L1 block size at 4k for maximum IOPS performance. Deferred writes (with a UPS on the machine) can still help, though it's less of a concern with a NVME. I usually recommend no less than a 10% RAM-to-Data sizing, so if you have 100GB of data to cache on your NVME, ...

Re: Best gaming settings I've found
You'd get a much higher hitrate if your L1 was larger. I also find the "Intelligent deferred write mode" to be superior to native, when caching for daily use and gaming. I just rebooted my gaming system last night so numbers aren't as high/large as they'd normally be. I usually float aroun...
