Which Edition Should I Choose?

If you still feel confused or want a simple way, this document summarizes the major differences among Primo Ramdisk Standard, Professional, Ultimate and Server.

Primo Ramdisk Server
The Server edition is the only edition that supports Windows Server operating systems, i.e., Windows Server 2003(R2), 2008(R2), 2012(R2), 2016 and 2019, besides Windows desktop systems. The other editions do not support Windows server systems. If you are going to install Primo Ramdisk on a Windows server system, you shall choose the Server edition.
Primo Ramdisk Ultimate
The Ultimate edition contains all features of Primo Ramdisk for Windows desktop operating systems, i.e., Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. It is able to create a ram-disk which size is greater than 32GB.
Primo Ramdisk Professional
The Professional edition contains all features of Primo Ramdisk except that it cannot create a ram-disk greater than 32GB.
Primo Ramdisk Standard
The Standard edition does not support the Image File feature, which means that ram-disks are not able to retain data after power off. Besides, the edition cannot create a ram-disk greater than 8GB.

Below is a quick guide you may follow to choose an appropriate edition.

  • For Windows Server 2003(R2), 2008(R2), 2012(R2), 2016 and 2019, choose the Server edition.
  • For Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10,
    • need to retain ram-disk contents across reboots, then choose the Professional or Ultimate edtion.
    • need a ram-disk greater than 8GB, then choose the Professional or Ultimate edtion.
    • need a ram-disk greater than 32GB, then choose the Ultimate edition.
