Hi

Is it a good idea to install and run the Java VM in a ramdisk which also holds other programs and associated files?

I installed Java (jre 6_21) in a ramdisk (direct I/O type) on a Windows 7 machine and everything works well, except that I can no longer change the Java cache location (the "Change" button is grayed out). On my Windows XP computers with jre_18 (not installed in a ramdisk), the Java cache location "Change" option is available.

Does anyone know if this is yet another Windows 7 "feature"?

Thanks!
