Greetings everyone,
We are pleased to announce the release of PrimoCache 4.0.1. This version is the official release of previous 4.0.0 alpha, which also has some improvements and fixes. The full list of changes is available in the changelog page. The packages can be downloaded from our downloads page.
Please note that this version will detect and block 4K native drives. Disks generated by Windows Storage Space usually are 4Kn drives, so they cannot be cached in this version. We are really sorry that for some reasons the development process was delayed and the support of 4Kn drives hasn't been included in this version. A new version to support 4Kn drives will come out in Jan. 2021.
The development team thanks everyone who gave us bug reports, suggestions or feedback!
If you have any questions or comments, we'll be happy to address them here.
Wishing you a healthy and prosperous New Year!

Re: [2020-12-31] PrimoCache 4.0.1 released!
Very glad to see it released, kudos!
Edit: Flawless upgrade as well, it even preserved the old L1 cache without issue.

edit: failure to read on my part. Glad to see 4K support coming soon! It explains why my cache task was doing strange things before the update...

How do i know if my storage spaces are 4Kn?Support wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 3:39 am Please note that this version will detect and block 4K native drives. Re: [2020-12-31] PrimoCache 4.0.1 released!
As an administrator try a command like:
C:\Windows\System32>fsutil fsinfo sectorInfo C:
LogicalBytesPerSector : 4096
PhysicalBytesPerSectorForAtomicity : 4096
PhysicalBytesPerSectorForPerformance : 4096
FileSystemEffectivePhysicalBytesPerSectorForAtomicity : 4096
C:\Windows\System32>fsutil fsinfo sectorInfo F:
LogicalBytesPerSector : 512
PhysicalBytesPerSectorForAtomicity : 4096
PhysicalBytesPerSectorForPerformance : 4096
FileSystemEffectivePhysicalBytesPerSectorForAtomicity : 4096
The drive C: is a 4Kn SSD and F: a 512e HDD. Various system maintenance or disk drive utility programs can also show this information.
I can confirm that PrimoCache 4.0.1 refuses to work with the 4Kn drives but 3.2.0 works perfectly well.

Glad to see the update is out.
Using PrimoCache on a Windows 10 Pro box with Storage Spaces myself so I'm going to have to wait until the next update.
New features look to be nice though.

Thanks for the new update and the hard work. Unfortunately I'll need to stay on 4.0.0 alpha until support for storage spaces is added again.
