RamDisk Larger then 4gig not working good

Postby greenseed » Sun May 13, 2012 5:28 am

Hello i just buy Vsuite RamDisk Server Edition and i experience some problem.

I am unable to create a RamDisk Bigger than ~2gig without "Dynamic RAM Allocation" selected , it say : ERROR insufficient MEMORY resource.

When i create a Drive Bigger them 2gig with "Dynamic RAM Allocation" selected it seem ok at first , but than i start copying data on the drive when about 2 gig of data has been copy my computer become very very slow and the drive unresponsible , i have to reboot to bring thing normal again or it simply output a copy error : Unable to Read From the Source but the Source is FINE i tested my self multiple time now with other destination.

Any help will be appreciated since at the moment that software is completely unusable for me :(

Hi greenseed,

Could you try Primo Ramdisk Server Edition? VSuite Ramdisk is replaced by Primo Ramdisk now. If you have bought VSuite Ramdisk, you can also upgrade it to Primo Ramdisk without any charge.

Thanks.

just tested primo , he will not create a disk bigger than 2gig without "Dynamic Memory Allocation" selected it say: Failed to create a new disk! [0x000005AA]

When i create a disk Bigger than ~7 gig , the disk it self become very very slow and unstable when around ~6-7 gig of data on it but but computer does not suffer any lag or lockup like it was with vsuite.

i've tested with another software that does not offer same feature as your and my computer run stable with a 28gig ram drive full of data and the drive is stable

The error indicates that there is no enough memory to create a ramdisk. Did you notice that your available memory amount right before you try to create a ramdisk? You can find your available memory as the following figure.

pr-vm.png (5.03 KiB) Viewed 1204 times

(In this example, the available memory is 1813MB)

I'm having the same issue here. Attemping to create the default 6144 MB RAMdisk with all default options. Failing with error "Failed to create a new disk! [0x000005AA]".

Greenseed, was your issue ever resolved?

Here's my free memory indicator:

Hi Pyronious,

Do you have the computer hardware configuration? And what's your Windows OS?

Thanks.

Well, I get the answer from greenseed,
The fix for memory limit was my "Page Table Entries" where use by another software and "Outpost Firewall Pro 7.x.x" was corrupting the PFN_LIST in window kernel after both software got remove my system was able to run very stable and smooth with a 24gig RamDrive :)

Hope this helps.
