Perhaps this pertains to any disk defragmentation software but I was wondering specifically about potential conflicts with primocache and perfectdisk.
It seems to me that they should be able to co-exist on the same system.
PD is moving files from one spot to another and primocache is caching those blocks to RAM and the SSD.
I'd like to hear what the support folks say about it.
Perhaps with primocache I shouldn't really care anymore about defragmention because the blocks are read so quickly out of the cache.
I'm running a defrag now but I stopped the cache first to be safe.
Thoughts?
primocache and Perfectdisk defrag conflicts?
Re: primocache and Perfectdisk defrag conflicts?
I use PrimoCache 1.0.1 and Diskeeper 9 without any problem.
Re: primocache and Perfectdisk defrag conflicts?
Running PrimoCache 1.0.1 and the native Win 8.1 defragmenter without any problem. Another system has XP and Perfectdisk. Again, no issues noted.
Re: primocache and Perfectdisk defrag conflicts?
The only thing I'd recommend with defragmenting is temporarily disabling the L1 write cache (if you have it enabled). It should work with all online (not boot-time) defragmenters.

Re: primocache and Perfectdisk defrag conflicts?
Using MyDefrag with XP shows no problems either (PrimoCache caches the data but it has no ill-effect aside from filling the cache). Virtually all defragmenters use the same Microsoft API routines to move data, so there should be little cause for concern.
Re: primocache and Perfectdisk defrag conflicts?
I confirm. PrimoCache conflicts with Windows 7 standard defrag.
I was wondering, why my hard disk gives strange sounds. After investigation, it appeared, background defrag was running that time. But when I examined the fragmentation (using ultradefrag), it was awful, like windows defrag never completed its job. Tried to start manual defrag, and it stuck unable to move data, just clicking with HDD heads.
After uninstalling PrimoCache defrag works well.
Configuration:
HGST 2Tb SATA(AHCI) 7200 HDD. Main system partition.
Windows 7 x64 SP1 with updates.
Microsoft security essentials
PrimoCache Desktop with Deferred write.
Primo RamDisk Standard Edition linked to C:\TEMP

Works fine on Win 8.1 and 10. Similar system/Primo config to prior poster.
Re: primocache and Perfectdisk defrag conflicts?
@Hale, thanks for the information!
Most users don't have this incompatibility problem with defrag software, but some users do. I'm sorry that so far we don't know what caused this problem and we cannot reproduce the problem on our testing computers. So we're still collecting this kind of problem reports and try to find something.

@Hale, can you tell me the version of PrimoCache?
Re: primocache and Perfectdisk defrag conflicts?
Well, as I said, it is(was during trial period) installed at my family house, so I can not check it at the moment. But I have downloaded it 5 months ago. So, you can check the April 2016 version.
