Re: Storage Spaces - Windows 10
Running mine with a 6gb L1/30gb L2 configuration on a Storage Space drive, and it seems to work fine - at least for the L1 portion. It never seems to put anything into L2, so I'm skeptical about that functionality right now. Perhaps Support will chime in and let us know..

Re: Freeze problems when using primocache
... 1. writing to L2 should stop immediately when primocache is reading from the same disk. writing should continue if nothing was read for specific time. ... That would be a very inefficient method for the cache engine to use, given that most drives have the capability. Perhaps an algorithm specif...

Re: Once L2 cache is full, basically stops working
Sounds like you're having atypical results darkfalz. I find if I start copying around large files (to/from the cached drive), that it will in fact dump other (often smaller) files to cache the large one, due to recency. That's just the nature of the beast - the Windows cache does the same thing. On ...

Re: Caching both SSD and spinning disk
Don't forget - the contents from the two drives (in a single Task) are in competition for L1 cache space, so you can (for example) get boot files and other frequently-accessed files taking priority over your spindle-disk. I had that happening, and regularly had boot-time files bullying the L1 cache ...

Re: How does Primocache handle Symbolic Links?
I think to avoid the redundant copy/cache on G: which we assume is happening, I'm going to re-home the User's "Documents" folder to the same subdirectory on G:, which avoids needing Symbolic Links and any problems that arise from using them. I'll simply have to keep that directory slim unt...

How does Primocache handle Symbolic Links?
I've been doing some re-configuring of cache tasks, and knowing I have some symbolic links between my boot drive (spindle HDDs in RAID) and my SSD drive (the target, G:), I wondered how Primocache handled them. Supposedly symlinks are transparent to the OS. My source folder is on the SSD drive (sinc...

Re: File/Folder Exclusions [To fix issues]
It's okay, glad to hear you can recognize it as a possible problem. :) As a bit of further feedback: more than 24 hours after making the change (and ~4-5 reboots with several app launches) I can proudly say that the hitrate on the gaming drive is back up over 95%. It gets into L1, and stays in there...

Re: File/Folder Exclusions
Update: For now to get around the problem, I simply did what I mentioned: shrunk the mechanical drive partition and created a new one, uncached, specifically for the use of RAMdrive image(s). I don't see any other way (short of purchasing a separate physical drive) to tell Primocache not to load tha...

Re: File/Folder Exclusions
Primocache caches the RAMdrive image file at every boot from what I can see, and my gaming drive prefetch and overall amount of cached content is way down. I used to get 99% or higher hit rate on my gaming drive with ease, now I'm lucky to have it over 75% most of the time. The primary data folder f...

Re: File/Folder Exclusions
A little more information on what I'm seeing: I'm using a free Ramdrive solution right now (won't post the name out of respect, PM if you'd like it), and the 8gb RAMdrive I make that is mounted at boot time (before Windows) is taking priority in the L1 cache. It will *always* end up cached and takin...
