Re: L2 Cache Not Used When Needed

I guess this might be similar issue that I reported here:

viewtopic.php?t=4674

Support said that this might be resolved in future update.

Re: PrimoCache & Nvme in 2018, enough to compete with optane 905P?

Well, given the fact that some SATAIII SSD (good controllers + fast MLC/TLC NAND) are faster than NVME M.2 (bad controller + weak, slow TLC NAND) when it comes to high load, you should look at benchmarks that hammer SSD with lots of work, like encryption (encryption is showing real-world NAND perfor...

Re: Performance problems in L1 - CrystalDisk behavior

I guess that no process except for system core (and a few other related) are running as root/admin. I think that even some core components do not use admin privileges. Windows always execute them as user except when you force to execute as admin. Maybe PrimoCache process/service is also running as u...

Re: Performance problems in L1

That might be due to Spectre and Meltdown (and other Intel vulnerabilities) patches that installed in some update. They have huge impact especially on I/O. So that is why your 4KB random I/O much lower than sequential performance on bigger chunks of data (so less I/O). That is one possible explanati...

Re: Level-2 cache on boot drive?

Windows 10 Disk management should be enough to do it (some random screen from web): https://www.aomeitech.com/windows-10/image/resize-windows-10-partition/extend-volume-c-win10.gif Shrink Volume, then create new NTFS using unallocated space. After that you will be able to use the new partition in Pr...

Re: Level-2 cache on boot drive?

You can cache HDD with your boot drive but you will have to shrink your system partition and create a new one from free space. PrimoCache will format it to its own filesystem, it can not use your NTFS OS partition.

Re: Level-2 cache on boot drive?

If you already own a NVME M.2 drive I do not really see any benefits from L2 cache as your SSD is probably already fast. Even if it is on SATA M.2 interface... then again, PrimoCache is mainly for accelerating slow HDD with SSD. In other words, people do not see acceleration with SSD + Optane (or ma...

Re: L2 Cache not working

To verify if cache is working you can download program called "H2Testw", test small part of cached volume (like 1024MB) and check "Endless Verify". It will read test file in loop until you cancel so PrimoCache should cache it if it is working properly. You will notice it by incre...

Re: L2 Cache not working

You should provide a bit more info. Your hit rate can be low in two scenarios: 1) You gave big volume and small cache (like 20TB HDD volume and 256GB SSD that you mentioned) 2) You try caching files that you read only once. Caching works best for files that are read often, like games or small music ...
