Two installs on one PC
Hello, I have a question that I believe was not asked yet... So, if I recall correctly, PrimoCache licence/key is "attached" to your motherboard ID so you can not use it on two PCs at the same time. BUT what if I have one PC with two Windows installs. Will I be able to use one PrimoCache k...

Re: Does an SSD connect to an existing HDD with files will delete the files?
Yes, you do not have to do anything to your HDD. You just setup your new SSD as a cache for HDD as in this guide 1. Setup your SSD as L2 cache - https://www.romexsoftware.com/en-us/primo-cache/instructions-manage-l2storage.html 2. Use L2 as cache for HDD https://www.romexsoftware.com/en-us/primo-cac...

Re: Does an SSD connect to an existing HDD with files will delete the files?
No, primocache will have a copy of this data on SSD and will do nothing to your original data on HDD.

Re: New build. RAID5 on RST ok?
I support what Jaga said. RAID5 is obsolete, RAID6 has disadvantage with 3 disks failing you lose all data. My setup is similar (although much smaller with 5x1TB data HDDs + 2x1TB SnapRAID Parity HDDs). As for caching strategy I went with 2x 128GB SSD in RAID0 (for good simultaneous read/write perfo...

Re: L2 cache and data not filled in again once it's out
If I understand correctly, this problem appears only when using L2 as read cache, it is not a issue witch write only L2?

Write Cache without Deffer Write
Hi, I have one question for support or more experienced users of PrimoCache. I have a small test setup with 300GB HDD and 60GB SSD as read cache. It is subjected to lots of small I/O so HDD can barely keep up (even being a VelociRaptor). I wonder if there is any performance benefit from enabling SSD...

Re: Spectre/Meltdown impact
O, but firstly you have to fall into this trap. I guess if someone is technical enough to use primocache in their setup then he/she is also educated enough not to fall in some phishing or running random pieces execs on system. At least that is my opinion, I know that with my behavior I will be safe ...

Re: Spectre/Meltdown impact
I run my system with disabled meltdown/spectre patches. Norman user should not be scared about someone exploiting them. Maybe if you are running some rack servers in homelab then it is important to have them enabled.

Re: Spectre/Meltdown impact
What was your setup? Did you only disabled OS patches, or you tested on pre-spectre UEFI and after patching?

Re: L2 cache in SSD M.2 drive: cheaper SATA or expensive NVMe?
If you want to choose SSD as L2 you should answer yourself one important question - how heavy load are you expecting on your setup. If it is going to be only short burst writes of small amount of data and mostly reading from L2 - any SSD will be enough, even the worst NAND, QLC will provide good seq...
