Primocache on Private cloud Brighttalk webinar
Hey Gents, I was a bit unprepared for this live brighttalk webinar I did for storage issues at scale in private cloud (which is why I might be stuttering a bit), but tried to give Primocache a bit of a shoutout at 18:50 of the video and slides. Keep up the good work. https://www.brighttalk.com/webca...

Re: An idea for getting rid of RAM overhead
Well, what I'm saying is that it is not 2x latency increase mathematically. It's more like 1000x latency increase. ZFS, XtremIO, and other technologies tried spilling their block tracking maps onto SSD and the results were pretty terrible. The reason is because you're scanning a block map that used ...

Re: An idea for getting rid of RAM overhead
I wouldn't think that would be a very good idea. Other technologies have done that in the past and the results have been pretty bad. Bandwidth isn't the issue, latency is. You'd be adding the latency of random reads, cache scanning, and accessing the SSD multiple times to return a single block. For ...

http://www.freenas.org/ can provide iSCSI devices. y oucan even boot off of them diskless and use primocache to improve performance.
Also, windows 2012r2 has the capability to act as an iscsi server to provide iscsi targets to other systems on the network.

Primocache and primo ramdisk on same server
Just a general question. Are the primocache and primo ramdisk server editions ok to reside on the same server? I wouldn't cache the Ramdisk or anything weird like that. I just want to make sure that part of your QA testing is simply having both products on the same box. I've enjoyed primocache a lot...

Re: Allow caching of virtual network (wan) drives/volumes.
If it helps out, I have a linux image on amazon EC2 which is presenting an iscsi block device from across the wan to my PC and I use primocache on it after connecting and formatting the iscsi lun for NTFS. works great, though after a crash, the cache rewarming up can be a bit painful. .

Re: Requests, read ahead & consistent pre-load file
If I used the lock cache content feature, I'd be losing some of the dynamic nature of the Cache as workloads change or new apps come onboard. I'm mainly wanting a way to not have to lose all data after a crash. I'm actually SAN booting from a slow iSCSI device, so when I have a power outage or somet...

Requests, read ahead & consistent pre-load file
I am a longtime primo cache server edition user that was using EMC software previously. still love love this software. Absolutely awesome and you guys have been doing a good job. A couple of things I would love. Primarily I would like the ability to save a consistent copy of the contents of cache an...

Re: [2015-06-17] PrimoCache 2.0.0 preview released!
Just wanted to say, longtime user and just upgraded to 2.0, fantastic job. 2.0 gave me a bit of a performance boost. Before using 1.x version of your software, I was using XtremSF by EMC, one of the biggest storage companies in the world who charged a boatload for caching software and EMC's software...
