Re: L2 update causes system to slow - almost completely freeze
Have you tried other versions? I never had this problem before 3.0.2, and I have currently reverted to 3.0.0, which seems to be okay. I had to kill power to the L2 cache device the other day, in order to get back control of my machine from Primocache, which is something I hate to do, and have never ...

Re: L2 update causes system to slow - almost completely freeze
The point being made here, I think, is that it is not a phenomenon which occurred with previous versions of Primocache. Something has changed. Version 3.0.0 is currently working without freezes (even when writing large L2 amounts) on my PC.

Re: L2 update causes system to slow - almost completely freeze
I appear to be having a similar problem to this. With 3.0.2 large L2 writes hog the system to the point of complete seizure. I went back to 2.7.3 for a week or so, and the problem vanished. Now I am trying 3.0.0, because I don't recall having this issue with that version either.

Re: [2017-05-27] PrimoCache 3.0.0 Beta is available now!
I have been using v.3 for a few days and it is working beautifully; seems better than v.2. No issues. The new features and options are most welcome. Can't really bear using a PC without Primocache now.

Re: Primocache best settings?
Smaller block sizes are more efficient (i.e. you waste more memory space with larger block sizes) but slightly more cpu is used, and overhead for L2 cache rises dramatically with decreasing block size. Why not just go with whatever Primocache auto-suggests when you set up the cache?

Re: Primocache lags my system out
Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0 drives are the fastest and best you can get. Can shift data at more than 200mb/s, whereas the absolute max you will get with USB 2.0 drive is around 30mb/s, which is a lot slower than your HDD, and will indeed cause the horrible lags you are experiencing.

Re: Freeze problems when using primocache
You need an online account to use Windows now? Good grief, makes me glad I've stuck with XP/2K on my main systems. Luddite! ;) I still have an XP system too, to run out-dated but still very good audio hardware that is not compatible with modern hardware or OS's, and it does its job very well, but I...

Re: Freeze problems when using primocache
Just a quick update. Am now using 2.4.0, and have been for about a week - no problems. I think the issue was a 'phantom' one. Re-installing Windows 10 was a good idea, and I would recommend it to anyone whose machine has been 'upgraded' to Windows 10 from a previous Windows version. Thanks to suppo...

Re: Freeze problems when using primocache
One thing that was very apparent during the day or so I was not using Primocache was how horribly slow this laptop is without it! I can't actually imagine using a PC without Primocache now, it has become something I consider almost essential. I also have more faith in Romex's programming abilities t...
