I enabled IM hibernation and did not change the standard location of the hibernation file (C:/). Yes, there is enough space to hold the IM data.
On my C drive I see these files:
hiberfil.sys
imhiberfilex.sys

Yes, using invisible memory of 1000MB.

The following happened immediately after restoring the system (Windows XP) from hibernation using a direct IO disk with invisible memory. Have not seen this using the SCSI disk.
