Overlapped I/O, aka Asynchronous I/O, allows an application to issue an I/O request and then continue with other work while the I/O is in progress. Thus it can improve an application's throughput. I am planning to buy the Server edition to use on my Windows XP 32bit. My system has 4GB and using a XP 32bit can only recognize 3GB.
