Re: Optimal Settings for Accelerating Read of HDD
Sorry for the late reply because we are on Lunar New Year Holiday. If you only intend to make loading fast, then I think only L2 cache will also get the job done. ALSO , a random question and clearing cache randomly too many times harm the life of the ssd? Usually it does. Whew so my area sometimes...

Re: Can too much Caching Affect the SSD Life?
SSD life is measured by TBW. So usually yes, too many writes to SSD will reduce SSD life. If L2 Cache is set for read cache only, you may monitor the PrimoCache statistics "L2Storage Write" which indicates how many bytes written to SSD in current Windows boot. I have set the slider of L2 ...

Can too much Caching Affect the SSD Life?
Like for example i make a 100GB L2 cache of my 250 GB ssd for my HDD , and install OS on the other partition of SSD. Now , i keep on playing lots of games like this week i m playing some set of 3-4 games, next weeka different set , can something like this harm the life of SSD? Due to too many writes...

Re: What should be Optimal Settings for Gaming on this Specs?
It should yes. Any blocks on the drive that are changed when the cache is paused should simply be discarded and then re-read into the cache the next time they are requested. But pausing should give a decent baseline comparison. Be sure to run the game several times with the cache on, to ensure it i...

Re: What should be Optimal Settings for Gaming on this Specs?
Let us know how it does, and if you feel like your games are snappier. wow my 65 gb cache is full xd , guess i should delete this and make a new 120gb one? anyway , does the game that i stop playing , do their cache get replaced by the ones i play currently? ofc given i have run it few times to be ...

Re: What should be Optimal Settings for Gaming on this Specs?
Another thing to keep in mind - L1 uses fixed amount of memory. That memory, if not used for L1 is still used by Windows for filesystem cache. As Jaga said, in your case I'd also suggest to not use L1, or use only small amount (such as 1GB), and rest is read thru L2. This will be good enough :) How...

Re: What should be Optimal Settings for Gaming on this Specs?
Looks fine to me. You can switch to 4kb block sizes for Primocache if you want, since you freed up memory by getting rid of the L1. Smaller block sizes incur more memory overhead, but it's largely a non-issue for you now. The 4kb block size is reportedly faster for access, and if that's the block s...

Re: What should be Optimal Settings for Gaming on this Specs?
Well, if you stick with 4GB for your L1 cache on D:, games that you regularly load will tend to speed up a -little- more because of that (the most often used parts of them will stay in L1, the rest in the L2). The large L2 will be your primary cache enhancer for things installed to D:. Try it as yo...

Re: Using part of SSD as L2 Cache
If the L2 space you use is too small and is fully populated it can be detrimental, especially if the SSD isn't over-provisioned. I highly recommend over-provisioning the SSD by at least 5%, or 10% if you can give it that much. You could use the entire SSD as a L2, but it really depends on how much ...
